It is recommended that students back up their iPads to their home computers at the end of each term. Backing up your iPad will help ensure a seamless transition between your old iPad and your new one. This may be also be necessary if your iPad ever needs to be restored due to technical issues. The backup will include all of your pictures and media, as well as all of the data that is stored on your iPad – documents, notes, presentations, etc. Additionally, restoring your new iPad from a backup will automatically setup all of your accounts, including iCloud, email, WebDAV, Google Drive, among many others. This can save you a lot of time in getting your new iPad set up. However, if you want to manually select only certain applications to be included in your backup, this can be done via iTunes or iCloud. Keep in mind that you may have to re-download your apps from the app store. These can be found in the app store under “Purchased”.
